Videos
Two tapes of episodes from the New World Zorro series were released on home video in the United States in 1996. The first tape contains Parts 1-4 of "The Legend Begins" from the first season, and the second tape contains the final four episodes from the fourth season under the name "A Conspiracy of Blood." On each tape, the four episodes are placed together as a 90 minute movie. While I personally prefer watching the individual episodes, the videos are a must because each one contains at least one scene which was not aired in the regular episodes. Unfortunately, some of these tapes are not of the highest quality and do not play very well. Several people have reported copies that flicker at the top of the screen, which makes viewing the video most unpleasant.

Malofilm in Canada issused this home video release of "The Legend Begins." The only difference between it and the American home video is the packaging. The only copyright which appears is 1989, so I am not sure when it was available. A number of copies of this video have been sold on eBay and Amazon since the summer of 2002. It is not currently available in online stores so I must assume that it is from years ago.

This home video release of "The Legend Begins" is from the Netherlands and was issued in 1994. The front cover of the case says "Zorro The Movie," and all of the credits on the front cover are in English. The back cover is entirely in Dutch. The tape has a plain label which looks homemade.

Several videos were issued in France. This video is of "A Deal with the Devil" and "Palomarez Returns." The only date is 1990 so I do know know how old it is. The opening credits music is entirely different, and the shows are dubbed in French.

Another video issued in France appears to be packaged for children. I do not know what is on this tape, but I am going to assume it is "The Legend Begins." It is interesting to note that the video is classified as a comedy.

So far, there are no plans of releasing the series on home video. Presently, the only way you can get copies of the shows is to find someone to make copies of his or her tapes. I no longer make copies of the tapes and am not willing to do so at any price or for any reason. Currently (November 2006), you can find people selling the shows on iOffer.com. This is the only source, and the copies are bootlegs. While I cannot legally recommend that you buy the bootlegs, it is the only way to see the shows.

Reruns
The series is being rerun in Canada on Lonestar. It has aired since 2002, and may still be running in 2006. The show has also aired in recent years on at least one station in Europe. Unfortunately, the show is not being rerun in the United States. I have no information as to when that will change. For the time being, the only way you will be able to see episodes of this series is to get someone to share his or her taped copies with you. Once again, I am not making copies of the shows.
I am sorry to say that I am extremely pessimistic about this series ever being available again, either on television in the United States or on DVD. Zorro Productions is not interested, and they and everyone else always says that they do not know who has the rights to the show. I think that we are given this response so that we will leave them alone. How can they NOT know who owns the rights?
